One of a kind Big Leaf Maple Root Burl. What an adventure turning this piece of timber. This Burl was from the very bottom where the tree meets the earth. In turning it I ran into many insect holes, dirt pockets and rocks. Some blood, sweet and blades were shed in the making of this piece of sure. I managed to keep some of the live edge on the one side of the bowl and it makes for a truly unique profile. The insect holes, natural cracks and dirt pockets gave this bowl a very skeletal feel when you hold it. Thus I’ve named it the “The Skeleton Burl”. Meant to be a decorative piece more than a functional one as it has only been treated with mineral oil. This piece stuns from every angle and is a real pleasure to hold in your hands.
